Warm Home Discount
With the price cap for energy likely to rise again in October, it makes sense to issue a reminder that the warm home discount scheme gives a one-off payment of £150 to those who are likely to struggle to pay their energy bills during the colder winter months.

However you may need to apply directly with your provider if you are part of what is known as the broader group. You may apply for the Warm Home Discount if you meet the Broader Group criteria. Details of what you need to be receiving are available here. To be eligible, you must receive one of the main benefits and at least one of the sub-elements. Applications that don’t meet both parts of the criteria won’t be successful.
If you meet the criteria and have a live electricity supply with Utilita, you can apply during the one-week application window, which is 3 September 2025 to 10 September 2025. Applying is quick and easy. Simply visit their website and click ‘Apply’ when the application window opens. They will let all Broader Group applicants know if they’ve been successful or not.
